Single House Puraflo Wastewater Treatment

The Puraflo Peat Filter System from Bord na Móna Environmental Ltd. is the natural answer to domestic wastewater treatment. Using a unique biofibrous peat filter media, the Puraflo system is one of the longest running, most reliable systems available.

The modular nature of the system allows maximum flexibility for use across a range of applications including individual houses, small developments, commercial properties, etc.

Puraflo Installation

The Puraflo system can also be used with existing septic tanks to resolve treatment and effluent dispersal difficulties.

5 Effective Treatment Steps:

1. Wastewater flows from the home into a watertight primary/ septic tank.
2. The solids settle and the liquid effluent flows by gravity into a pump/ sump chamber.
3. The liquid effluent is pumped intermittently into the Puraflo modules and distributed evenly onto the biofibrous peat filter.
4. A combination of biological, chemical and physical processes treat the wastewater as it filters through the biofibrous peat in the modules.
5. Treated liquid emerges from the Puraflo unit for dispersal into the ground. Gravity or pumped outlet versions are available.

Additional Treatment Options (Tertiary Treatment):

Tertiary treatment is available with the standard Puraflo single house system, where required. This is achieved by following the Puraflo treatment plant (or the company's Platinum package treatment system) with additional Puraflo modules. The secondary treated effluent is passed through the additional Puraflo modules and undergoes a third stage or tertiary treatment. Significantly higher levels of treatment can be achieved. The Puraflo tertiary treatment option is capable of achieving a 5:5 (BOD:TSS) standard.
